International Conscientious Objectors' Day 2024

Friends are invited to a ceremony of remembrance marking International Conscientious Objectors' Day. The event will commemorate all those who established and maintain the right to refuse to kill.

Brief speeches will be given by an Israeli conscientious objector with whom Quakers in Britain has been working, and a representative from one of our partners, War Resisters' International. A choir will sing songs of conscientious objection; and the names of 85 representative conscientious objectors will also be read out, one from every country where we know brave people have made a stand.
